After Thanksgiving has wound down the event calendar in the Colorado Springs area fills up. Whether you look forward to the annual arts and crafts fairs, the Christmas music classics or the traditional stage production of The Nutcracker as always there is plenty to do, see and participate in this year. As generous as our community is throughout the year at Christmas time we really shine! The Colorado Springs area is centered on giving back to our community this holiday season.
Annual charitable campaigns that help local nonprofits include:
- The Gazette & El Pomar Foundation Empty Stocking Fund
- Indy Give
- American Red Cross Pikes Peak Chapter
- Salvation Army Pikes Peak
Are you looking for a gift for the person that has everything? You might consider making a donation in their name to one of these worthy local nonprofits.
Or look on their lists for other needs our local nonprofits would love to receive that may include volunteer hours or specific items including goods or canned food in your homes you’d love to donate. Take the time to peruse these websites for updates on how much they do for all of our community members including our military, children and senior citizens.
Like most Americans this year, Coloradoans have embraced the importance of buying local and supporting local businesses in our community. Downtown businesses and The Downtown Partnership will start celebrating the season on December 1st at 5:50 p.m. with the Colorado Springs Festival of Lights followed by other popular downtown events including: Holiday Stroll on December 5th, Skate in the Park, Acacia Park, December 1st-9th, FREE weekend parking at parking meters for the month of December, and their Downtown Gift Card program.
What are you doing this holiday season?
